ICA Volunteer Programme 

ICA Volunteer Programme, affiliated to ICA Nepal, is an effort to promote volunteerism in human development and capacity building. ICA Volunteer Programme aims to deliver incredible experiences and placements to volunteers and provide maximum benefits to Nepali communities. 
ICA offers wide range of volunteer opportunities in the diverse sectors. ICA’s projects and its associates’ community development activities are located in various parts of the country. Volunteers will have ample of prospects to learn cultures, exchange skills and contribute in the human capacity building. 

Objectives: 
•Provide inter-cultural perspective and multidimensional life experience to volunteers
•Enabling platform to exchange knowledge and skills 
•Support women, children and the poorest through voluntarism 
•Generate funds and skills to empower community through ICA participatory approach

Assignment:
ICA teams are sincerely committed in making the most of your time and involvement in Nepal.  The most placement would be in ICA’s project, however, as per your qualification and interest we are dedicated to find the best assignment.  Major placements: 

a) Volunteer in Orphanage 
Ketaketi Homes is managed by Rotary Club of Rudramati in collaboration with YakYak NGO in Scotland.  At present, Ketaketi Home has 20 children. Children are brought to homes from streets, living primarily in the streets of Kathmandu valley. Street Children are seen lacking the primary socialization, modeling framework of family, behind the education and prone to abuse, exploitation and deviant behaviour. Hence, Ketaketi homes is an effort from Rotary Club of Rudramati to provide education, care and assurance to good future of those children. 

You can: craving 
-Teach English Language to Children 
-Teach Foreign Language (native language) to children 
-Teach Painting, Arts and Craft 
-Teach Health, Hygiene and Sanitation behavior and encourage them to follow 
-Help support staffs in taking care of children 

b) Volunteer in School:
ICA Nepal has its two schools named as Glen Buds and Darwin Academy located at the Kathmandu. These schools have more than 400 students. If you prefer to stay in Kathmandu, you may volunteer in these schools or you may also choose to stay in remote and rural schools and get involved in varieties of activities such as: 

-Teach Foreign Language 
-Teach Specific Subject 
-Maintain Library 
-Organize extracurricular activities such as singing, dancing, sports 
-Teach Health, Hygiene and Sanitation behavior and encourage them to follow 

c) Volunteer with Women’s Group: 
Providing supports to women’s group is another opportunity. Many women’s groups are affiliated with ICA, volunteers can support these women’s groups in many occasions: 

-Women Literacy Classes 
-Skill Training such as toy making, marmalade or jam making
-Providing gender and women rights knowledge and training 
-Educating them on reproductive health care issues

ICA Support:
ICA Nepal will arrange the placement as per your interest and qualification. One of the team members of ICA will be in 24 hrs contact with the volunteer supporting and assisting. Volunteers will be provided orientation on Nepali culture, and language as well as the detail information regarding the work they are being assigned to. ICA will support the volunteers in arrangement of accommodation, fooding, and placement. You will also be supported in travel, tour packages. 

Duration: 
Duration of volunteer work range from one month to 6 months. 

Fees: 
The fees you contribute will go to the host of accommodation. Certain portion will be used in ICA future projects in human development.
